Please see the letter regarding closure tomorrow

Thursday 1st March 2018

Dear Parents/Carers,

After careful consideration, we have decided to remain closed on Friday 2nd March. The decision to close the school is never taken lightly as we can appreciate how inconvenient it is and how challenging it can be to arrange childcare. Although we have cleared the paths going into the school, they have now frozen over as well as the playground and so have the areas around the school.

The pavements and roads around the school are very dangerous, snow has turned into ice and sub zero temperatures are again due tonight, with winds that will turn snow into ice. We have already had more snow this morning and more is due to fall tomorrow morning; the police again have advised people not to drive unless completely necessary.

As a headteacher, I have to believe that 420 children, their parents and staff are able to get here safely without risk of injury or accidents and at the moment I don't think that is possible.

We have decided to inform you as early as possible so that you can try and organise alternative plans. Looking at the forecast for the weekend, the temperature will rise somewhat and the conditions are looking better, this will mean that we can open on Monday morning. Mother's Day lunches will go ahead as planned from Monday, as will Parents' Evening next Wednesday and Thursday. We will move World Book Day to Friday 9th March.

The senior leadership team feel that safety is paramount and have felt this is the best decision for all.

Kind regards,

Ms D Indresano
Headteacher
