Year 5

In the Autumn Term, Year 5 will be exploring our Global Theme of Sustainable Development. 

In English we will be looking at the core texts 'The Boy who Harnessed the Wind' and 'Running Wild'. 

In maths this term, we will be looking at place value building on prior knowledge. We will also be looking at addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. 

In art, we will be developing our sewing skills and also printing using lino and foam. 

This term in PE, we will be participating in a variety of net and wall games. During these sessions, we will be learning to accurately volley and rally passes. We will also be working on our coordination to ensure that we are using the correct techniques. We will also be participating in dance and gymnastic activities. 

In science, our learning will be based around living Things and their Habitats and Animals including Humans. 

In Year 5, reading and times tables continue to be a priority. Parents can support their children's learning through reading and discussing the books daily, recording in reading journals and by supporting with times table practise.
