Maundene Primary School

Trips and Permissions

At Maundene, we believe that outdoor experiences and school visits are an essential resource for the teaching of a broad and balanced curriculum.  Educational visits provide children with memorable learning opportunities that help develop independence, self-confidence and responsibility.

Each year group will go on at least one educational visit each half term linked to an aspect of their topic work.  Alongside visits off-site, the school will invite in speakers, groups, artists or other adults into Maundene to enrich and extend experiences.

Aims

The aims of our off-site educational visits are to:

  • Enhance curricular and recreational opportunities for our pupils
  • Provide a wider range of experiences for our pupils than could be provided on the school site alone;
  • Promote the independence of our children as learners, and enable them to grow and develop in new learning environments.

At Maundene we believe in providing a broad and stimulating education for our children and feel that trips and workshops will enhance their learning and broaden their experiences.  These experiences will enable the children to deepen their understanding and make connections with the local community and the learning that is taking place in their classroom using first hand experiences.

We link our trips and workshops into our curriculum map and have so far given the children some great experiences including: our onsite forest school provision, Little Street, Howletts Zoo, Colchester Zoo, Kew Gardens, a local care home and the Houses of Parliament.
